Joe the Plumber talks McCain on Glenn Beck

Found via Leslie Carbone who includes a transcript, Joe the Plumber was on Glenn Beck today and discussed his feelings about being on the campaign trail with John McCain. His report isn’t good especially in his discussions with the Arizona Senator over the bailout.

I have no secret that I believe McCain’s position on the bailout was the final straw for most conservatives. I still voted for the man but I have to admit that was largely because of Barack Obama & Sarah Palin.

Like it or not, McCain blew a great deal of this campaign. We see now with Obama’s Illinois governor friends that his associations did matter, but most people didn’t care about an aging terrorist who was keeping silent. McCain should have been hitting Obama on Rezko, explaining who he was and how it undermined his message. Additionally the Rev. Wright who surely would not have stayed as silent as he did had McCain brought out a full on attack.

Overall though, the bailout was the lowest moment in the campaign and it signaled what most conservatives knew a long time ago; McCain was going to be Obama/Kennedy lite and not the real deal.

  1. If John McCain had sided with the taxpayers and against the bail-out, if he had clearly said, “NO, responsible taxpayers, who pay their own mortgages, are not going to be forced to bail out irresponsible banks and borrowers,” he might well have won the election, and it would most certainly have been a lot closer.

I am 100% in agreement with you there. I am convinced that had John McCain stoop up against the bailout or been for SOMETHING, anything constructive, he would have won. The polls were all going his way, excitement and new energy was pumping after the convention, then he sold out the party and what were supposedly his ideals.

  2. Every person has the right to talk about the country and about presidents so in this matter plumber expressed his feelings.

    Thanks
