Illegal drugs and immigration are feeding a rampant decay

Hillary Clinton, in a somewhat accurate if not tactful telling, noted the United States involvement in the corrupt system that has given enormous funding to now warring Mexican drug cartels. We buy the drugs and create a system for criminals to get their hands on weapons, our appetite continues, our culture and popular media promote drug abuse, we never talk about the consequences of our actions and so while the ultimate responsibility for securing Mexico is not ours, we must root out a homegrown behavior that is illegal, immoral and internationally destructive.

Clinton of course forgot to put most of the blame on our broken borders; by not securing our sovereignty the US has allowed millions of people to flood the country and destroy our economy. Worse our unprotected borders allow drug cartels entrance to our land. These cartels exploit illegals, giving them ways into our country for pay, using them as drug mules, prostitutes and sex slaves, criminals for hire and make some both knowing and unknowing operatives in their American business.

Turn on cable news and you will find an endless supply of advocates screaming that illegal immigration is not the problem and our country should magically fight the cartels in isolation, as if it were that simple. Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi was caught on camera undermining our nation’s national security and giving words to the sentiment of a large majority of Democrats who believe in lawlessness and the destruction of national sovereignty. They believe illegal immigrants are refugees that should be embraced by the American system, ignoring the illegal action that brought them into this country and their strong connection to this cartel crime.

First and foremost, while I like many can feel for the plight of honest Mexican’s who fear their government and flee their country, we cannot condone or accept their illegal behavior. Millions of Mexican’s have chosen to abandon their nation and leave it in the hands of criminals. They have chosen not to rise up and build stable and flourishing governments, not to build infrastructure, not to pursue the betterment of their ancestor’s land. Instead they now reside in our nation, feeding off our generosity and our resources.

Many American’s should feel ashamed for becoming so dependent and addicted to substances that destroy their bodies, their families and their communities. These worthless dregs of our society should be scorned for what they are. They deserve blame for their own illegal activities just as illegal immigrants should be for theirs. There is always a bigger fish and on our planet there are no natural vacuums in which actions take place. While abusing cocaine or marijuana may seem like a harmless action to a user, drug abuse supports a corrupt and dehumanizing system. Not only does this behavior eventually destroy life, it feeds evil cartels that use their money to intimidate, abuse, torture and murder others. Drugs link users to an international sex trade where both adults and minors are raped dozens of times each day and live under the cold and violent rule of dictators.

Illegal immigration fuels this trade of drugs, sex and violence while destabilizing two nations, Mexico and the United States, both of which are ill equipped to deal with the aftermath. Illegal activity begets illegal activity regardless of how innocent the individual illegal actions may seem. Drug abuse feeds the bigger fish.

Some believe simply legalizing marijuana will be the solution, it will not. It is the abuse of drugs, not their existence that has created a marketplace for corruption. As long as human suffering, boredom or abuse exists there will be those wanting to abuse substances; the fact that this use has expanded so far outside of just a simple minority and is so condoned and encouraged by our culture is shameful.

While we sit unified upon one hemisphere we exist within boundaries as two nations. Mexico has not relinquished its sovereignty to us, nor have we asked it to. Yet millions of Mexican citizens reside here, demanding the services American tax dollars pay for. While many American citizens are involved in the drug trade, gangs, mafia, public guardians who have turned crooked and others supporting this trade must be hunted down and made to pay a price; their actions have fueled this system but the actions of a despicable minority do not make the totality of our country responsible for another nations decline or prosperity.

In short, it is the responsibility of the millions of illegal immigrants residing here to see to their nation’s stability. They have callously fled their homeland rather than fight for its future. It is our nation’s responsibility to be honest about our actions and root out the cartels that exist here while punishing both the big and little fish to change their ways or face punishment.
