James Carville has a brilliant idea

Democrat and Clinton wingman James Carville has a brilliant idea… we should kill Health Care. Sounds good to me James! Glad you are on our side.

Now Carville suggested on CNN Democrats let Republicans filibuster Health Care and basically send it down the river. The reason? In his mind this would be a perfect opportunity for Democrats to run in 2010 against a do nothing Congress. Sounds beautiful to me, let’s go.

So, get a bill out of the House that can get 55, 56 Senate Democrats, and say, we’re going to go the compromise way. We are going to let the Republicans vote on this. We are not going to — we are not going to do it by reconciliation, and make them filibuster it. And then run against a do-nothing Congress.

Why do I agree?

1) I don’t trust Senate Republicans and so a watered down, make the liberals absolutely insane, bill that even if it did end up passing in that scenario would be terrible, but not catastrophic, is better than slipping something through the back door that will kill our economy and our care.

2) If Health Care IS defeated by Republicans it would be the biggest triumph our Party has seen in the last couple of years. It would only harden the resolve of Tea Party goers, Town Hall questioners, activists and all of those wonderful independents who are jumping the Obama ship.

3) With spine intact the 2010 election would be about a “do nothing BUT SPEND” Congress. Since the Congress is run by Democrats and the White House occupied by a Democrat who promised his personality alone would change the world, the people doing nothing here but spending can be tossed on their collective butt.

4) With the overwhelming support shown to the new President post-election and the media hype that he would change the world gone, Health Care would be good as dead next summer. The time for HC reform the way Democrats want it was a month ago, that opportunity is quickly sinking and burning.

So in short, I wholeheartedly agree with James Carville on this one. Kill the bill!
