While 60 Minutes ignored Harry Reid’s racist comments about Barack Obama last night during their report on the new Washington insider book “Game Change” they did find endless ways to attack Sarah Palin. Actually the ENTIRE segment was a hit piece on Palin that ignored almost every other aspect of the book until the very end with a minute on Hillary Clinton. You almost would have thought the entire book was about Palin.
Their hit piece was centered around McCain campaign head Steve Schmidt, who said Sarah Palin was calm and “nonplussed,” when being asked to take the VP nod. Why was she so calm? Schmidt revealed Palin actually believed God had a plan for her! I know, get the keys to the insane asylum.
Here is something the liberal media doesn’t seem to get, true Christians actually believe in God. Yes that sounds crazy, but I have more. Their belief in God includes the thought that this entity is actually influencing events in our world. Not just an overall, “Hey let’s check on Earth today, OK, whatever, I need more coffee” but is actually connected to the day-to-day activities of our lives.
Since the people at 60 Minutes, the liberal left, and apparently Schmidt, have never spent time around religious people, I understand the confusion and the outrage. Christians actually believing in God must seem very scary to them. For the rest of America, I think it is time we start pointing out just how terribly disconnected these people are from the world everyone else lives in.
Sarah Palin has never been shy about her strong commitment to faith. If ever there were a statement by her that did not require a headline, it is that she believes God has a plan. Christianity is based on the belief that God has a plan. Only in the liberal, atheist, we hate religion, world of the media is this a surprise. Anderson Cooper and the producers of 60 Minutes, along with Steve Schmidt, have given us an amazing glimpse into who they are. Having read this book and sat down with its authors, of all the revelations contained within, they are most shocked and disturbed by God.
There is a silent majority of Americans out there, people who don’t take kindly to their religion being gawked at by Hollywood producers and TV reporters as if it were a circus sideshow. Headlines that intone “Crazy Woman Believes in God” are hopefully fueling this majority and turning them away from the left.
I for one hope they continue. The best thing Sarah Palin can do is get up on a stage this week and say something like:
“Have you seen the latest shocking revelation on me? Those media elites dug far and wide and found out my well kept secret. They actually printed the headline “Sarah Palin Believes God Has Plan”… What is next? “Sarah Palin Advised by Prophetic Ancient Book?” Then those clever people inside the Beltway can bring me down with Biblegate.”
