North Korea has attacked South Korea firing artillery shells onto a South Korean island, killing two marines and wounding 15 other soldiers and civilians. CNN reports South Korea responded by “80 rounds of artillery and deployed fighter jets to counter the fire”. Earlier in the year a North Korean torpedo sunk the South Korean ship Cheonan, killing 46 sailors. Meanwhile this week North Korea showed off an advanced uranium enrichment facility and with it their nuclear ambitions.
