Update: Reuters has Gingrich leading at 24%.
Former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich is now leading the field of Republican candidates for 2012 presidential election according to a USA Today / Gallup poll. In the poll Gingrich lead the field 22% topping Mitt Romney who won 21% of the poll. The closest competitor to the top two was Herman Cain who came in at 16%.
Gingrich is benefiting from the rapid implosion of Herman Cain who has suffered an onslaught of sexual harassment charges and a slew of recent missteps when answering policy questions.
