The Obama campaign and the executive branch are increasingly turning to outright lies in order to win. The latest astonishing lie comes from Vice President Joe Biden during an appearance at a fundraiser for Democrat Maria Cantwell in the Seattle Westin hotel. The Weekly Standard has the snippet from a pool report:
Recalling a story that Cantwell had told as she was introducing him about crying as a little girl because she thought one of her neighbors had said she wasn’t going to vote and Cantwell feared she would be arrested, Biden said it wasn’t much different today. “Republicans have changed the law so you get arrested if you do vote,” he said, apparently joking. He cited efforts in Pennsylvania, Ohio and elsewhere “to essentially try to intimidate people, taking people off the roles.”
“This is not your father’s Republican Party,” he said.
First of all, every time Joe Biden opens his mouth and says something outrageous it is always reported on as a “joke.” If it was a joke, why was it followed up with examples used to make an argument? Let me give you an example of a joke that wouldn’t work using this method.
“Your mom’s so fat people jog around her for exercise. No seriously. Here is videotape of your mom casually strolling down a sidewalk. Now if you watch these two joggers are coming up on her. Yes right here, they are now actually running around your mother repeatedly to jog for exercise. Also notice it is taking them awhile to get all the way around because of her girth. Why are you crying? I am just joking by showing you actual evidence of how fat your mother is. Now here are your mothers physical measurements…”
Second, what Biden appears to be referring to are attempts by states to clear their voter roles of criminals, illegal immigrants, the dead and anyone else who cannot legally vote. Now only in an era where we have embraced newspeak are attempts to enforce the law so regularly re-envisioned as suppression of rights. Heaven forbid we stop people who are not legally allowed to vote from turning up at the polls. So Democrats don’t want to enforce border security, don’t want to keep criminals from voting, don’t want the Congress to question the Attorney General of the United States, don’t want to follow most of the Constitution. They do want government telling you what to eat, how to live, where to get your electricity, decide which companies succeed and fail, control what language you use, censor the Internet and so on. But they are for your rights. What an amazing group of people.
Biden’s comments are an outright lie in any context and wreak of desperation.
