Countering the “Betting Against America” Propaganda Insanity

So Mitt Romney has a Swiss bank account and the left has taken that to mean one of two things, either he is hiding wealth or betting that the Franc will do better than the dollar, both of their conclusions have been framed as evil. Thus has started the propaganda meme “Mitt Romney is betting against America” with President Obama jumping onto a two-day “Betting on America” but tour to spread this tripe.

Senator Dick Durbin, clearly one of America’s geniuses, took to the airwaves to declare that he consulted with the old liberal faithful billionaire Warren Buffett to confirm that it is highly odd that a rich person would have a Swiss bank account. I love how Democrats know only two billionaires willing to support their insane fiscal policies and so they trot them out as much as possible to counter what is sanity to everyone else with money. They play the same card every time on every issue, “You know –insert MSNBC host- I spoke today with {George Soros, Warren Buffett} and they said –insert anything a Republican is for or against – is wrong.” One billionaire said it? Well then, it must be true.

Also does Warren Buffet have no money overseas? Really, every dollar has always been invested in the United States? Where are the tax records of his entire adult life?

Now let’s talk about this “betting against the American dollar” stuff. Over the last ten years do you know who would be smart to bet against the American dollar? Anyone with money and any sense of its value would have been wise to bet against our currency because the dollar has been plummeting at record rates. Do you know why? Because of horrible fiscal policy doled out by the Congress and Treasury department and reinforced by the Federal Reserve and the White House. If our government is going to continue embarking on the same series of scams like, quantitative easing and massive spending binges, anyone with half a brain would be smart to assume it won’t work out well in the end. If we all had money left after the recession and our tax bills we would be wise to grab Swiss bank accounts as well.

Did you know Dem. Chair Invested in Swiss Banks, Foreign Drug Companies, and the State Bank of India?

Did you know Nancy Pelosi made up to $5M off-shoring and outsourcing?

But what about principal, you might ask? After the auto bailouts I was high on buying a Ford Motor Company car. I wanted an “American car” from a company that wasn’t living off the government rolls. So I went in, excited to see what they could do for me. I was met with a horrible salesperson and a team supporting him who pulled out every trick in the book to swindle me.

I sat as he put on a show behind smoke and mirrors, loading me up with a bunch of crap and trying to sell me on a horrible deal. I stood up and walked away. My “Buy American and not from crony capitalist” principal was met by another principal “don’t get screwed.” As long as the government continues to toy with our economy in the same destructive way it has been, we would all be wise to avoid investing our dollars in it.

This leads me to the final “Swiss bank” propaganda message and an overall Democrat playbook move, tax loopholes. I love the way people throw out “tax loophole” as if it is always some giant scheme concocted by a Wall Street caricature from the early 1900’s. The Congress sets creates our tax system and with it, the “loopholes” used by companies like Google and Halliburton to get out of taxes.

Our tax system is vast, complicated and filled with inconsistencies. If there are loopholes, blame the source who created them and continues to do nothing to close them. Congress and the Democrats who were the majority there for some time has the power to close them or better yet create better federal tax law. Until then, don’t make the people who are following the law out to be villains. If there is something criminal being done by Mitt Romney or others, bring the evidence and the IRS. Until then you are just playing politics and slandering people.

The best evidence of how out of touch republicans are is their choice of Mitt Romney as their candidate. There are at least 100 GOP heavyweights that could beat Obama… But Mitt Romney is not on that list. Never before in history has the GOP shot itself in the foot in such a way… Please comment. Is this really our guy?
