What happens when you ask almost twice as many Democrats as Republicans who they will vote for? Shocker, the Democrat polls higher. Welcome to the latest Pew Research Center poll which showed a double-digit lead over Mitt Romney and was wildly out-of-step with the vast majority of other polls currently showing the two in a dead heat.
Politico ran with the headline “Obama has big lead; Romney favorability drops” and received widespread backlash in their comments. The site later updated the article to not the bias as the likely reason for its skewed results.
You can find a breakdown here which shows they polled only 459 Republicans to 813 Democrats and 599 “independents.”
