Obama & Villaraigosa Suggest GOP is the Party of Proven Results

Democrats Suggest Republicans are From Another Era, One That Worked

“It was a rerun. We’d seen it before. You might as well have watched it on a black-and-white TV”
- President Obama on the GOP Convention

Thank you Mr President, we are from the era of black and white television. A time when the economy was humming, jobs were plentiful, our national was building its technology prowess and we were the clear leaders of the world. That is exactly the age Republicans would like to turn our nation back to. Much better than the dark and bankrupt future are you trying to drive us toward.

Obama isn’t the only one reminding us that Republicans are trying to drive America back to the greatness from which we came.

“It looks like the platform of 1812.”
- Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa

Ah yes, that wretched time when the father of the Constitution James Madison ran the nation and actually tried to abide by it. Imagine the horror of returning to a timewhen the principals of America mattered and our nation was expanding and not contracting.

Yes we are the party of past ideas. Past ideas that worked. We bring forth the wisdom of our forefathers,  having learned lessons of those who were foolish enough to try to abandon them. We bring ideas that have proven results and one hell of a wonderful track record. Are we nostalgic for a time when Americans had jobs, grew their fortunes and stood as the centerpiece of the world? You bet we are.

Thank you both for reminding us what we stand for. Proven ideas and timeless principals.

I’m gonna go out on a limb here and say that Obama’s idea of the 1950s is probably very different from your idea of the 1950s. Considering that his people were being killed and ostracized at the time solely for looking a different way, I feel like he might have a bit more contemptuous attitude towards the US in the 1950s.

And let’s be real. The only reason you think that america was the centerpiece of the world is because someone told you in school. Humanity is the centerpiece of the world, and perhaps as Americans we ought to be attempting to do our best with the privilege we’ve been given of being able to grow up with this country to help others who were not so fortunate.

Prosperity is wonderful. But if the price of prosperity is the destruction of others, then the price of prosperity is too high.
