Morning Links: Obama drinks the leftover Kool-Aid

“Nowhere has there been a bigger gap between the perceptions of compromise and the realities of compromise than in the health-care bill… Every single criteria for reform I put forward is in this bill.”

“I’m not just grudgingly supporting the bill. I am very enthusiastic about what we have achieved.”

- Barack ObamaNow THAT is some Bullshit

- Senator Ben Nelson realizing bribery is NOT the true meaning of Christmas, CONSIDERING giving up $ his state was given in exchange for a yea on health care bill. What a guy…

- Barack & Michelle have chairman Mao, a transvestite & lots of pics of Obama as famous icons adorning their Christmas tree. That is because they are NOT Marxist, Communist, Socialist, nutjobs (See Big Government for more)

Observation

Let me go back to the Obama quote that opened this post, WOW! For awhile now, when conservative friends have talked about Obama as if the end times were near, I have been telling them to wait, that it would only be a matter of time before the man fell apart. In the last few weeks and months, the momentum for a massive fall has been building. A matter of physics, Obama ran as a blank slate promising an Eden paradise. The ways of Washington being what they are, the nation being what it is, there was no way to deliver on whatever it was he was actually promising or what his followers expected.

Obama is, in essence, an empty suit being lead by two motives. Motive number one, popularity. Motive number two, the weird far left agenda of the people around him. To achieve motive number one, he has to actually pass legislation and achieve… well… something. To achieve motive number two, he has to attach himself to a bunch of crazy legislation that will make him unpopular with most of the country. Do you see how this is destined to fail?

The statement up top is the result of those two opposing forces and the failure that is the end result. To pass the legislation being pushed by his followers and the weird cabal around him, he cannot actually write it. Writing legislation means you have to be attached to something. Attaching yourself to something means you risk being unpopular. Remember all those “present” votes in Chicago? The reason Harry and Nancy are writing this crap is because Obama writing it would take leadership. Leadership leads to decision making. Decision making leads to responsibility. If you are responsible for the end result, you cannot be popular if it fails.

Nancy and Harry are corrupt. Actually nearly all of the Congress is corrupt regardless of Party. So the legislation that comes out of that institution is going to be filled with corruption. It is also going to be without all of the things the liberal extreme wants because that is what happens to legislation that can actually pass.

The ultimate problem is this, Obama’s signature will be fixed on the corrupt, watered down, useless legislation that comes out of the Congress. As president, he has to take a side eventually. As president he has to be responsible. There are no “present” votes aside from a pocket veto and even that wouldn’t work in our modern age.

Unwilling to lead, but desiring popularity, Obama now has the difficult task of selling a worthless bill that will ultimately make him unpopular. A bill everyone knows is not what his advisors or his constituents want. A bill everyone knows is filled with waste and corruption. A bill that will lose the 2010 election for the Democrats. It is one of three bills including TARP and the Stimulus that will define the first part of his presidency. Candidate Obama pushed for TARP and Senator Obama voted for it. President Obama will sign the corrupt document and his signature will lead to responsibility.

Until now Obama could rely on the media to simply go along. That is changing rapidly. People are starting to ask questions and that will not lead to popularity. This is where the road gets ruff.

The bill he is selling is not the change his followers have been waiting for. With no Republicans supporting it, the Democrats cannot look outward but only in for their blame. Obama will try to vilify, but unlike 1992 it won’t work. The insurance companies are on board this time because Nancy & Harry lined teir pockets. The right sat on the sidelines incapable of actually stopping the bill. All the maneuvering came from within.

Obama’s quote defies all that we know to be real. To sell this bill he has to continue selling us what we know to be untrue because to accept the real is to acknowledge he cannot lead.

Clinton clashes with Israelis over settlements

From the Financial Times:

In what appeared one of the most tense encounters between the sides for several years, Mrs Clinton and Avigdor Lieberman, Israel’s foreign minister, disagreed on both the US call for a complete freeze on settlement growth and Israel’s contention that the administration of George W. Bush, the former president, had signalled that some expansion was permissible.

“We cannot accept this vision about absolutely, com pletely freezing all settlements,” Mr Lieberman said.

In response, Mrs Clinton underlined the US call for a “stop to the settlements”, a move she described as “an important and essential part of pursuing the efforts leading to a comprehensive peace agreement”.

Tech companies enlist Democrat to blast Obama tax plan

Tech companies have enlisted Commerce Department official Robert J. Shapiro to bash Obama’s tax plan. The basic message? Say goodbye to jobs!

McDonald’s makes sales & Wal-Mart makes jobs

Sign of the times? While much of the economy was shedding jobs Wal-Mart last year created 30,000 and is estimating it will create another 22,000 positions this year. Additionally Wal-Mart, the largest private-sector job creator in the country and scourge of liberals, is planning on revitalizing or building new stores.

Meanwhile McDonalds sales have rose 5.1% in May.

What does it mean? As the economy tanks the “afforable” goods and services markets are rising. A good sign for the two companies, not a great indicator of American wages.

Scientists say think twice about “green” transport

In December I asked “What Good is an Electric Car” noting the energy that goes into producing the power for electric cars is anything but “green.” Now some scientists are telling people to think twice about things like public transportation and the hidden pollution that is produced to power them. In short, an SUV might just be a better choice than rail.

But.. but… but… solar and wind, solar and wind… aren’t here and won’t be here for a VERY long time people. Get with it.

In need of more millionaires

States are turning to a universal solution to combat their financial problems… raise taxes on the rich. Not the best plan when every other policy seeks to destroy wealth and remove the ability for people to climb the economic ladder. If Government removes the millionaires to whom will it turn to pay for all of its wealth destroying programs?

Suffering nation picks up tab for Obama “date night” in Big Apple

The Obama’s had a lavish date night… in New York City last night on the taxpayers dime as the deadline for General Motors ticked away toward certain bankruptcy and layoffs.
