The 2012 Republican National Convention will take place in Tampa, Florida the week of August 27, 2012. It will conclude the Republican Primary process and lead to the general election phase of the 2012 election.

From the GOP Convention web site:
“The St. Pete Times Forum located in downtown Tampa Bay area will serve as the main convention site. The Tampa Convention Center, located just two blocks away from the Forum, will be used as a Media Workspace for the approximately 15,000 media personnel that will be on hand covering the convention. Many private venues in the Tampa Bay area will also be used for private events.”
Spending
Concerns had already existed in early 2010 over what some conclude to be lavish spending for the convention. By September 2009 the Republican National Committee had spent $636,800. The Washington Post article, Critics Alarmed at GOP’s 2012 convention spending, broke the spending down as follows: $67,000 on salaries, more than $50,000 each for legal consulting and equipment, about $40,000 on rent, almost $40,000 on site evaluation consulting and about $25,000 on hotel management consulting.
Spending has been a frequent concern during the tenure of RNC Chairman Michael Steele.
