Like most man-made disasters, the Obama Presidency started with astonishingly high expectations that had nowhere to go but crashing toward the Earth. Think Hindenburg, think Titanic, think Snakes on a Plane. Obama painted himself a savior, what the nation got was George Bush in even more socialist and befuddled clothing.
Think about Obama’s list of accomplishments. The president ran on cutting waste and changing Washington. He then promoted and signed a massive stimulus bill written by the most corrupt institution on Earth, the US Congress. The bill was sold as a job creator but unemployment actually went up. Worse for the Obama administration, waste and the inability to do basic accounting have only added to its failures, leaving the president in the final weeks of 2009 taking credit for a dip in unemployment from 10.2% to 10%. Break out the champagne!
Next up, Obama won a Nobel prize for doing nothing. Well, great. The problem? His prize for peace was accepted a week or so after announcing the escalation of War in Afghanistan, ouch! He at least scored points with the left for trying to end the war in Iraq. Bad news is that a fresh wave of terrorist attacks are starting to make us wonder about the future of that nation. Oh, plus Mr. Peace has also been bombing Pakistan since early on in his presidency, but who pays attention to stuff like that? I am all for bombing Pakistan, but no one is willing to give me a prize for it.
Since no other legislative accomplishments were had, Cap & Trade is dead, Health Care seems shaky at best but most likely dead for now, let’s go back to that peace prize. Obama also won for nuclear non proliferation. Woops, there is that whole Iran thing.
The President promised to close Gitmo in a year, but that doesn’t seem likely. He lifted the ban on federal funding of embryonic stem cell research. That pleased the left but since we have no real money to fund stem cell research or much else, who cares?
He did pay an enormous amount of money for old cars. These cars were then destroyed. A temporary rise in car sales was met with a giant bottoming out. So… yeah. We own clunkers and we didn’t even scrap them to the bone for parts. Way to go!
In year one of the Obama presidency, it took the President longer to pick out a dog than decide on wasting trillions of taxpayer dollars. He continued most of the policies of the Bush administration that liberals hate like the Patriot Act, domestic spying, and the War in Afghanistan. He took the massive spending that contributed to our financial mess and turbo charged it. He appointed an assortment of Czars who are basically insane and have only further destroyed his credibility.
The nation in financial ruin, corporations both benefiting wildly while at the same time being consumed by the government, and lobbyists in the White House after promising throughout the campaign there wouldn’t be, all round out a pretty terrible presidency so far. There are still a few weeks left but with the Congress ready for vacation and Obama no doubt ready to play even more golf, I don’t see much hope or change coming out of the White House as we close off his first year.
Saturday Night Live spoof of White House Party Crashers Tareq and Michaele Salahi. Goes on WAY too long but still humorous. My favorite is Joe Biden walking in and laughing it up. What a joke this administration is.
Video of Obama in 2003 saying he wants single payer communist medicine but warning they need to get the House, Senate and Presidency to do it. Um, Mr. President, you have them. So why not just say that is what you want not and get it done?
Seriously why is it so hard for Obama and the Democrats to just come out and admit that they want a socialist style health care system? Liberals cannot stop telling people how great the idea is so you would think if things are so amazingly awesome and without lines and rationing in countries that already have it, they would be on television every five minutes showing us and saying, “We are so excited to bring this to you!”
Where are the millions of British and Canadian citizens racing to tell us how wonderful the system is? I have known many Canadians and several people from Britain. They all cannot stand their health care systems or the massive taxes that go to pay for them. They complain about the price of things over here too but love the service they receive and the technology they find here. I have sat through dozens of, “Yeah when I was young I had this accident or sickness. It was never treated and ever singe then…”
Why is the television not filled up with testimony and statistics that disprove what I have heard? We have two major industrial nations with the system liberals want, yet aside from the skewed propaganda films of Michael Moore we never see happy dancing Canadians and British citizens telling us why it is so great. Is there something going on I don’t know about?
Liberals also cannot stop telling us how American’s are demanding health care reform in numbers so massive it is impossible to ignore. If so many people are on board the Government health care wagon, why is it so hard for the President to say what he said in 2003? Was he lying in 2003? Is he lying now? Did something change to make him not embrace a single payer system other than political viability? I thought he was post-partisan and was going to do what was right not just what was politically expedient! Why was single payer never even discussed as an option?
If you take what the President and Democrats are doing and try and square it with their past rhetoric or any of their arguments, well, it is impossible to fit the pieces together. Many of these politicians and Party loyalists loved the idea of single payer until they took control. Now they are fighting it at or not even acknowledging the possibility. So either they are up to something or they have sold out their principals or they never had principals to begin with and were just paying lip service to liberals.
One thing is certain, 2003 Obama wanted single payer health care and believed it was right. Why did 2009 Obama not even let the possibility of such a system be debated or really explored?
The President’s chief economic advisor Larry Summers, who just the other day said the economy was rebounding because people were googling “economic depression” less, now says the President’s GDP growth predictions are “in doubt.” Economists have been skeptical as many have been since… the… beginning.
Summers reasoning as to why they are in doubt? Banks aren’t lending. Shocker there, we’ve had no evidence they ever would. WORST of all though, the Chief Watchdog of TARP is astounded and appalled that the Treasury isn’t paying any attention to how the financial institutions are spending the money we gave them. Why would they lend? They can use the money however they want and apparently no one is watching.
Finally, I have a question. If Summers claim that the banks aren’t loaning as they were supposed to, why then do we keep giving them more money?

This goes along with fellow liberal Bill Maher’s comments from a few weeks ago.
I am going to be honest with you, I tried watching the President’s “press conference” but I just could not make it through. After five minutes I loaded up the DVR & caught up on reality TV which, as fake as those programs are, offer more “reality” than anything that was said by the President last night. During that five minutes I heard enough “uh, ums” to lull a Buddhist into Nirvana and marveled at how Obama exchanged his teleprompter for a flat panel television. WOW, exciting.
In short let me say this, if the President is not going to call on reporters who will be critical, if he is only going to call on the select few he screened ahead of time and whose names he reads off a list and if he is going to offer the same tired explanations he has on eighty other television programs, there is absolutely NO NEED to interrupt television. Obama needs to stop forcing his way into our Tuesday nights and go bother someone else. Couldn’t he spend this time talking to Iran or something? Seriously, enough with the TV Obama, enough with the TV.
Finally let me say this once and for all, I don’t want to hear people tell me Obama is a “great speaker.” He gave essentially the same exact speech for years and on the campaign trail. If he couldn’t recite that thing with proper timing and inflection his skill level would be at zero instead of the level one he is hovering over now. Every time the man has to speak extemporaneously it is like a cat spinning out of a blender, its nails scraping a chalkboard with musical notes on a scale that are being played by a bagpipe player kicking a sitar. GW doesn’t win any awards for inspiration but I don’t remember him claiming to be Cicero reincarnate.
Obama’s words are lofty and made meaningless by action, it is propaganda and prose not a sign of aptitude or enlightenment. Actions matter and in his short but busy time in office he has undermined his intended meaning behind nearly every platitude offered during the campaign; from bringing lobbyists into his administration to shutting out any opposing voices, our President is now diametrically opposed to the man he claimed to be when he ran for this office.
His stumbling, meandering, cantankerous, empty and worn speech since election leaves almost everything to be desired for; the fawning by his easily amused and awareness devoid followers is laughable and more than a little dangerous for a nation that was built on the concept of removing blind worship from the political sphere.
The very first episode of Roaring Radio a weekly look at American politics with a conservative spin. Each week the show will seek to highlight what is happening in the conservative movement specifically how members are adopting new technology to reach the public and give citizens a voice in the political process.
This week features an interview with Matt Margolis author of 2007’s Caucus of Corruption: The Truth about the New Democratic Majority (Official site) and co-host of the American Resolve on BlogTalkRadio.

Candidate Obama admitted not too long ago that his “cap & trade” energy plan will cause your energy costs to “skyrocket.” (Found via Blogging Redneck) Luckily we are not in a recession with rising unemployment and a nation filled with people who already are struggling to pay their bills.
- Brits are expressing discontent over President Obama’s perceived “rude” treatment of their Prime Minister during his visit to the Oval Office yesterday. The WH had cancelled a joint press conference because of “snow” and then after outrage rescheduled a small appearance with the two taking questions while seated. Brown’s wife Sarah was kept from meeting the President meeting with Michelle Obama.
A sample of articles and comment:
All of this could be seen as trivial if not for two years of candidate Obama and candidate Clinton repeatedly promoting their skills at building relationships with allies they perceived as “snubbed” by the Bush administration. Obama repeatedly promised he would take leadership and “rebuild alliances” but chose to depart from the Bush administrations early and unwavering embrace of Tony Blair and our British global alliance.
I guess Obama’s “change” is not just going to be a bungling of our economy but also our foreign affairs.
