Clinton clashes with Israelis over settlements

From the Financial Times:

In what appeared one of the most tense encounters between the sides for several years, Mrs Clinton and Avigdor Lieberman, Israel’s foreign minister, disagreed on both the US call for a complete freeze on settlement growth and Israel’s contention that the administration of George W. Bush, the former president, had signalled that some expansion was permissible.

“We cannot accept this vision about absolutely, com pletely freezing all settlements,” Mr Lieberman said.

In response, Mrs Clinton underlined the US call for a “stop to the settlements”, a move she described as “an important and essential part of pursuing the efforts leading to a comprehensive peace agreement”.

Israel: Venezuela, Bolivia Supplying Iran With Uranium for Nuclear Program

Story from the Associated Press

In support of Israel

I have a lot of thoughts about the current Gaza situation, Israel & what is happening in our world. Over the coming weeks and months I will no doubt be sharing them. For now I just wanted to share one thought that is more important than all.

I support Israel.

While this support does not come blindly it comes adamantly. We can quibble over policy and history until the world ends but that will not change a simple fact about Israel’s current position; no matter how they got to this point they are a nation under attack by terrorists and tyrants. These people come with and from the same hateful vision that attacked our nation on 9/11 and laid waste to Afghanistan.

Israel not only has every right to defend itself against Hamas, Hezbollah and everyone else in that region and world but they are part of a fight that is much larger than themselves. It is a fight we too are a part of and I am ashamed that so many in this nation do not see the connection and hold the same hatred for Israel as these terrorist scum do. There are two sides to every story but right now one side shamefully broke an agreement for peace and the other has every right to its own defense.

In short, I wish nothing but victory for Israel and eventually for peace and liberty to make its way to the entire region!
